Nakasamba Banda succeeds James Banda as CIArb Zambia Branch Chair

A new chairperson for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Zambia branch (CIArb-Zambia) has been announced. She is Nakasamba Tikambenji Banda-Chanda, who succeeds James Banda.

I am so excited and grateful to have been elected Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Zambian Branch. I look forward to serving and working with our members in advancing (i) ADR as the preferred mode of dispute resolution, and (ii) Zambia as a safe seat for Arbitration.

This dedicated team brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Branch, and we’re confident they will guide us towards continued success in promoting arbitration as a leading dispute resolution mechanism in Zambia.

James presented the mantle to Nakasamba on 30 April 2024, during the newly elected committee’s initial meeting. All the newly elected CIArb-Zambia branch leaders were inaugurated during the same meeting, and they will serve from 2024–to 2025.

The CIArb is an international centre of excellence for the practice and profession of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), with over 17,000 members across 149 countries and supported by an international network of 42 branches, including the Zambia branch.

It also provides education and training for arbitrators, mediators and adjudicators; and acts as a global hub for practitioners, policymakers, academics and those in business, supporting the global promotion, facilitation and development of all ADR methods.
