President Hakainde Hichilema, on 5 June 2024, carried out his first significant cabinet reshuffle and appointed Princess Kasune as Zambia’s first female Minister of Justice.
President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed Honourable Mulambo Haimbe, SC., MP, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation, and Honourable Princess Kasune, MP, as Minister of Justice.

Princess is a Zambian politician and is the current Member of Parliament (MP) for Keembe Constituency—since 2016.
Hitherto, Princess was the provincial minister for Central Province. Other government portfolios include being Deputy Chief Whip. She has also served on various committees of the National Assembly, including the Standing Orders Committee, Parliamentary Reforms and Modernization Committee, Committee on Privileges and Absences, Committee on Parastatal Bodies, Committee on Health, Community Development, and Social Services, and Committee on Health, Community Development, and Social Services.
Princess, 49, a prominent AIDS activist, is also the first National Assembly member to announce she is living with the condition.
With this appointment, Zambia takes a significant stride toward achieving gender parity within its judiciary, signalling a positive step forward for gender equality in the country and the region.
